Kara became the firm’s managing partner following Madam Justice Kristan McLeod’s appointment to the Alberta Court of King’s Bench.

Kara began working at Chivers Carpenter as a summer student during law school and then went on to article with the firm in 2004. Kara became a partner in 2011. Kara has participated in numerous Alberta Labour Relations Board and arbitration hearings and has written legal opinions and briefs on a wide variety of topics. She has a special interest in assisting workers at the Workers Compensation Board. She appears before the Appeals Commission for Alberta Worker’s Compensation and frequently makes submissions to the WCB and Disputes Resolution Decision Review Body. Kara offers high level strategic advice to Union clients on a variety of issues. Kara is an experienced speaker and presents at client and legal conferences and workshops.

Kara has taught Labour Law at the University of Alberta since 2021.

Her interests include reading, travelling, crafts, and spending time with her family.
